THE HARNISH STORY
“Our Story” should really be about “Your Story”, but some people are interested in who we are and where we came from, as we are both proud of our family/business history and how the story impacts how we represent and serve our clients. In addition, some important parts of the story change with the current context of your interest in Harnish Properties. So…if you are interested, read on. We sincerely appreciate getting to know you.
Our story begins at Kristi Harnish’s early age of 17 and her heartfelt passion for being a realtor. But more about Kristi later. Son Justin grew up in Lake Oswego, went to Lake Oswego schools while at the same time absorbed the personality, tools and early skills that led to his later success. With Justin’s determination in education and sports he earned his degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego (USD), and soon after started down a unique career path from coast to coast in business software sales. And jump into it he did, quickly rising to the top 3% of his company. All that changed, however, when
Justin returned home to help his mother fight breast cancer. After helping her win that battle he asked, “where do my priorities lie in life?” Soon thereafter, in the early 2000s, Justin joined the Harnish team and became the rising star for which he had worked so hard. His resolve and dedication to family was further strengthened with the birth of son Hunter who happily survived open heart surgery at day two of life. These were the events which Justin and spouse Megan and daughter Stella now cherish as having clarified and broadened their faith and their commitment to helping others.

With Justin’s new found perspective and his own quiet and internal passion for sales, Justin soon helped Harnish Properties to be named in Realtor Magazine as one of the top 100 sales teams in the U.S. His life experiences and knowledge of the local market have been marked with his own independent goals and a common vision of where his family adventure and Harnish Properties will go next. Important to the business side of his life as of 2015, Justin was the number one selling Broker in Lake Oswego and all of Oregon in 6 of the last 7 years.
As the Harnish Property team understands, it was the early vision and drive of Kristi that launched the process. Her sweat and tears in the early 1980s fighting 18% interest rates, building a reputation of honesty, intelligence, drive and sincerity, sometimes dragging 3 young children in tow, led to almost unparalleled success. She happily acknowledges the valuable lessons from her mentors and earnestly passed those lessons on to Justin. As Kristi was always at the top of her company and for the better part of 25 years was the top or among the top three Brokers in the State, she along with her attorney/husband Jon didn’t miss a beat with the “kids”.
Kristi has been at the top of her profession and you’ll hear her clients use words to describe her like “professional”, “distinctive maturity” and “ a presence about her” or admire her sincerity and compassion for others. Kristi, as the daughter in law and Justin as the grandson of a pastor, both carry the values or grace, humbleness and courtesy. At the same time you will find them subtly driven and motivated by the passion for excellence found in the family team. Moreover, it is these same values they seek to have in the other non-family associates in the company. And so there it is. An outline for sure, but hopefully this background about Justin and Kristi, their families and the Harnish Properties team will help you understand what drives them, what makes them successful and why they want that same success for their clients. In a hand shake, it should become apparent.
We will Earn your Respect
Yes. Our organization offers all those expected qualities of proven experience, knowledge and intelligence. Beyond those traits is a true advocacy for our buyers and sellers that has been the hallmark of Harnish Properties since 1982. We are locally owned and operated. Our team understands the market from an insider’s perspective simply because we all live, work and play here.
Communication is Key
Our innovative tools help keep our clients informed throughout the buying/selling process. Beyond our technology offerings, lies a simple device called a mobile phone. Within reason, your Harnish representative is always available and fully engaged. Our clients can also expect to experience ongoing professional support from our team. AND we expect to hear from you, as you are part of our team!
We are an Extension of our Clients
We understand that your home is probably one of the most important financial investments you will make in your lifetime. Your Harnish Properties representative will offer guidance before, during and after the home buying or selling process. We are committed to providing our clients with the coveted “Sold” sign. However, we are also passionate about creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and having a little bit of fun along the way.
Longevity is Important
In 1982, Kristi Harnish sold her first home, in 2001 Justin Harnish sold his first home. Now as 3rd generation Oregonians, the Harnish Family continues to be truly thankful for the opportunities we’ve found while living, working and playing in the Pacific Northwest. Harnish Properties has won numerous industry awards over the years but the most satisfying statistic is the number of loyal clients that keep coming back and the referrals that continue to fuel our success.
Who we are
When your name is prominent on everything you do professionally, accountability takes on a unique kind of significance. Awards and sales records are appealing benchmarks for all of us, but our clients experiencing a professional, caring attitude is most important. That aspect of the Harnish Properties style has served us well and will always be in the cornerstone of who we are.
The Importance of our Global Reach
It’s a fact that 90% of Home Buyers begin with an online search. Harnish Properties offers the same reach, through our web presence, of an international organization without the obvious downside. We will always adhere to our proven business fundamentals; collaboration, innovation, networking and attention to the marketplace.

Designer | Builder | Craftsman
Eric received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1991 and moved to Portland that same year. He and his wife, Michelle Smit, started their careers making studio furniture for craft galleries from Los Angeles to Seattle. As the projects grew in size the studio furniture work was replaced by architectural design and build projects including homes, remodels, and condominium interiors.
Each project is an exploration of light, structure, space and craft. Our goal is to create contemporary and timeless work that meets the needs and aspirations of our clients. We’ve been able to achieve a very high level of detail and craft by fabricating all of our custom cabinetry, furniture, and concrete in house. All woodwork and precast concrete pieces shown on this site were designed and built at our 5000 square foot shop and showroom in Portland.
Sr. Mortgage Banker | Pacific Residential Mortgage
In my twenty years as a Mortgage Banker, consistency has been the key to successfully serving clients. It includes consistently closing loans on time and maintaining consistent and open communications from beginning to end of every transaction. I consistently strive to deliver on my promise to do everything possible to insure an outstanding lending experience, whether the client is a seasoned real estate investor or first time home buyer.
As a Portland native, I joined PRM because I liked that they are a local mortgage lender. All of our underwriting and processing is done right here in-house. Our founders, who still manage PRM, are also local and always think ahead of the curve in terms of operations, loan products, and how best to serve our clients. From this combination of talent, focus, and sense of community, PRM has grown to be a leading Northwest Mortgage Bank licensed to do business in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California.
